BOBBY REAL - Tattoo Artist

Born and raised in Alaska, I was inspired by Buck and Merinda Gascon, my parents whom were both artists. I was lucky enough to be trapped indoors on those long cold days with plenty of time for art & crafts, music and most importantly family.

During my early adult years, I got to travel to Fukuoka, Japan with the company that I fished with. I was so overwhelmingly inspired by my beautiful surroundings, and a culture so steeped in art, that I knew I had to do art for a living.

I moved to California in the winter of '91 and quickly began looking for an apprenticeship to become a tattoo artist so I could share my art with the world. After spending a decade searching for the right teacher, I finally found him and completed a two and a half year apprenticeship under Sean Dawley in South Lake Tahoe. Shortly after I went on to open Cartel Ink Works in Carmichael, CA. where I had the good fortune of being inspired by some of the most amazing artists in the decade that I

remained open. About two years ago I decided that I needed a change of scenery, moved to South Lake Tahoe, CA  and became a partner at Tahoe Tattoo.

Music is also a huge part of my life. I am a bass player and got to tour Nationally and Internationally performing with NorCal bands such as DedVolt, The Council and more.

My most recent and extremely notable passion is MMM Magazine, which I have proudly created with Rod Black. This magazine encompasses everything that defines me and more.  Because my life is consumed with art, music, love and fitness, MMM Magazine is the perfect fit. It is an outlet that showcases artists from every genre. I am honored to be a part of its creation and excited to see the heights it reaches.

Let me share my art with you, contact the studio today and make an appointment.

Cheers,

Bobby Real
